Bishop
Bobby Ray Henderson was born November 30, 1952 in the city of
Muskegon, Michigan. His educational achievements include: completing
High School at Muskegon Heights High School, and receiving a
Bachelor of Theology Degree with credits toward a Master’s
of Theology from International Bible Seminary, Plymouth, Florida
in 1985. In 1992, he received an honorary Doctorate from Lighthouse
Christian College of Beebe, Arkansas. Bishop Henderson was saved
and filled with Holy Ghost in August 1967, under the ministry
of Evangelist T.A. Body. Being discipled through the ministry
of Pastor Kenneth Bacon, he began his evangelistic ministry
in 1970, in East St. Louis, Illinois at Haynes Miracle Temple
Church of God in Christ under Pastor Sylvester Haynes and Mother
Goldie Haynes. It was during the full time evangelistic years,
that Bishop Henderson began to minister in the National meetings
of the Church of God in Christ.
Bishop
Henderson taught in the National Auxiliaries Convention of the
Church of God in Christ from 1983-1994, where his classes were
the largest in the history of the convention. From 1984-1994,
his teaching and ministry during the International Holy Convocation
of the Church of God in Christ resulted in many receiving miracles
and deliverance in the midst of multiple thousands of people.
It
was during these years that Bishop Henderson began to write
to facilitate these classes. His writings have provided cutting
edge resources for the Church of God in Christ and other organizations
worldwide.
Moving
to Atlanta, Georgia in 1980, he became a part of the Central
Georgia Jurisdiction. Jurisdictional Prelate and General Board
Member, Bishop J.D. Husband appointed him president of the Central
Georgia Evangelistic Department. He also established the Anointed
Word School of Ministry conferences in 1988. Bishop Henderson
began consistent International ministry in 1989, which has taken
him into the countries of Germany, England, South Africa, Nigeria,
Kenya, Belize, Guyana, Trinidad, Jamaica, and now Uganda. In
1991, he became a board member of the Charismatic Bible Ministry
(Oral Roberts, Chairman).
After
traveling worldwide as a full time Evangelist for 22 years,
and conducting over 700 weeks of revival, crusades, and seminars,
Bishop Henderson established the Anointed Word Evangelistic
Tabernacle Church of God in Christ. In 1997, he was appointed
Superintendent of the Atlanta Metropolitan District, which he
founded, by Bishop C.D. Owens, Jurisdictional Prelate of Central
Georgia and then Presiding Bishop of the Church of God in Christ.
Bishop Henderson was also appointed a Regional President of
the International Evangelist Department, overseeing several
eastern states. In April 2001, Presiding Bishop G.E. Patterson
appointed him as one of the Vice Presidents of the International
Missions Department. In November 2002, Bishop Patterson and
the General Board of the Church of God in Christ appointed him
Bishop of the Republic of Uganda, East Africa.
Bishop
Henderson has been the husband of his crown jewel, Mrs. Authurine
Hampton Henderson since 1977. They are the parents of one daughter,
Christine.
