Bishop Bobby Ray Henderson was born November 30, 1952 in the city of Muskegon, Michigan. His educational achievements include: completing High School at Muskegon Heights High School, and receiving a Bachelor of Theology Degree with credits toward a Master’s of Theology from International Bible Seminary, Plymouth, Florida in 1985. In 1992, he received an honorary Doctorate from Lighthouse Christian College of Beebe, Arkansas. Bishop Henderson was saved and filled with Holy Ghost in August 1967, under the ministry of Evangelist T.A. Body. Being discipled through the ministry of Pastor Kenneth Bacon, he began his evangelistic ministry in 1970, in East St. Louis, Illinois at Haynes Miracle Temple Church of God in Christ under Pastor Sylvester Haynes and Mother Goldie Haynes. It was during the full time evangelistic years, that Bishop Henderson began to minister in the National meetings of the Church of God in Christ.

Bishop Henderson taught in the National Auxiliaries Convention of the Church of God in Christ from 1983-1994, where his classes were the largest in the history of the convention. From 1984-1994, his teaching and ministry during the International Holy Convocation of the Church of God in Christ resulted in many receiving miracles and deliverance in the midst of multiple thousands of people.

It was during these years that Bishop Henderson began to write to facilitate these classes. His writings have provided cutting edge resources for the Church of God in Christ and other organizations worldwide.

Moving to Atlanta, Georgia in 1980, he became a part of the Central Georgia Jurisdiction. Jurisdictional Prelate and General Board Member, Bishop J.D. Husband appointed him president of the Central Georgia Evangelistic Department. He also established the Anointed Word School of Ministry conferences in 1988. Bishop Henderson began consistent International ministry in 1989, which has taken him into the countries of Germany, England, South Africa, Nigeria, Kenya, Belize, Guyana, Trinidad, Jamaica, and now Uganda. In 1991, he became a board member of the Charismatic Bible Ministry (Oral Roberts, Chairman).

After traveling worldwide as a full time Evangelist for 22 years, and conducting over 700 weeks of revival, crusades, and seminars, Bishop Henderson established the Anointed Word Evangelistic Tabernacle Church of God in Christ. In 1997, he was appointed Superintendent of the Atlanta Metropolitan District, which he founded, by Bishop C.D. Owens, Jurisdictional Prelate of Central Georgia and then Presiding Bishop of the Church of God in Christ. Bishop Henderson was also appointed a Regional President of the International Evangelist Department, overseeing several eastern states. In April 2001, Presiding Bishop G.E. Patterson appointed him as one of the Vice Presidents of the International Missions Department. In November 2002, Bishop Patterson and the General Board of the Church of God in Christ appointed him Bishop of the Republic of Uganda, East Africa.

Bishop Henderson has been the husband of his crown jewel, Mrs. Authurine Hampton Henderson since 1977. They are the parents of one daughter, Christine.
